Strengthen Global Community

Caring for Jews around the world

Each year, we devote approximately $7.1 million to Developing Global Peoplehood — one of our four core funding initiatives. Why is it important for Jews in Baltimore to support overseas concerns? Because it is not only a core initiative, it is a core Jewish value. Jews have a long tradition of taking care of at-risk Jewish populations, helping them live with dignity where they are or helping them get where they want to be.

Global philanthropy, volunteerism and commitment

We have a borderless planning agenda, meaning we are focused on the same concerns overseas as we are in Baltimore. There are two main areas of focus to our global work: vulnerable populations and community development. Vulnerable populations include at-risk children and the elderly, new immigrants to Israel, people with disabilities and many others. Community development focuses on education, youth enjoyment, volunteering and Jewish identity programs. We contribute overseas through two partners: the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) and the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI).
